Allison Randel Brazendale, Psy.D. is the creator and founder of Camp M.A.T.E.S. and is so excited to bring this one-of-a-kind innovative camp to Columbia South Carolina! Allison is a research and clinically driven psychologist who specializes in working with youth with social skills deficits, including but not limited to ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, and other developmental disorders. Allison is the Director of Psychological Services at the Autism Academy of South Carolina. Her research focuses on increasing physical activity levels, social skills, and overall health and wellness with youth with developmental disorders. Allison could not be more excited for this summer, and wants to thank all of her student volunteers, friends, the community, and her family for being so supportive of the development of this camp!

Keith Brazendale, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Exercise Science at the University of South Carolina. His research interests center on childhood obesity prevention and he has published research on a range of topics, from studies exploring children’s physical activity levels in afterschool programs and summer day camps to studies exploring practical strategies that childcare professionals can use to reduce sedentary behavior and increase physical activity levels in children. Keith co-founded Camp M.A.T.E.S. with his wife, Allison, and he serves as the Physical Activity director for the camp.

Marjorie Cloninger, Ph.D., is a state and nationally certified school psychologist and a licensed psychologist. After working in the public schools, she is currently a psychologist in the division of Child Developmental and Behavioral Health at Palmetto Health/USC Medical Group and holds an appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the USC School of Medicine. Marjorie has served various roles at Camp M.A.T.E.S., including assistant director, since it began in 2014. She considers herself privileged to serve children through this organization to develop physically, socially, and emotionally healthy lives!

Ty Zeigler is a staff attorney at the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, and a former staff attorney at the South Carolina Supreme Court. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar and an alumnus of the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he also earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Public Administration. His work with Camp M.A.T.E.S. is driven by his belief in the motto of his alma mater, Learning humanizes character and does not permit it to be cruel.

Kelly Hoppmann has over 16 years of professional sales experience in health and wellness with a focus on diabetes and cardiovascular disease states. Additionally, she has spent 13 years in the fitness industry working with many facilities in the Midlands area. She is an AFPA Certified Personal Trainer, Concept 2 Certified Rowing Instructor, Certified Cycle Reebok Instructor and holds other specialty fitness certifications. Kelly’s goal as a board member is to provide professional experience that would assist in the strategic planning of events, programs, courses, and curriculums that advance the mission of Camp M.A.T.E.S.
